ഒരിക്കല്‍ രണ്ടു സുഹൃത്തുക്കള്‍ ഒരു മരുഭൂമിയിലൂടെ യാത്ര പോകുകയായി രുന്നു. നടത്തത്തിനിടയില്‍ അവര്‍ തമ്മില്‍ വാഗ്വാദത്തിലേര്‍പ്പെട്ടു. അവരി ലൊരാള്‍ മറ്റവന്റെ മുഖത്തടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അടിയേറ്റയാള്‍ ദുഃഖത്തോടെ മണലില്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ എഴുതി.

‘ഇന്നെന്‍റെ സ്നേഹിതന്‍ എന്റെ മുഖ ത്തടിച്ചു’.

അവര്‍ വീണ്ടും യാത്ര തുടര്‍ന്നു. ഒരു മരുപ്പച്ചയിലെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ കുളിക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. അവര്‍ കുളിക്കുന്നതിനിടയില്‍ മുമ്പ് അടി യേറ്റയാള്‍ ചതുപ്പില്‍ കുടുങ്ങി മുങ്ങാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. ഉടനെ തന്നെ മറ്റെയാള്‍ അവനെ രക്ഷിച്ചു. വീണ്ടു അയാള്‍ മുന്നില്‍ കണ്ട പാറ യില്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ കൊത്തി വെച്ചു.

’ഇന്നെന്‍റെ സ്നേഹിതന്‍ എന്റെ ജീവന്‍ രക്ഷിച്ചു’.

കണ്ടു നിന്ന സ്നേഹിതന്‍ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. “എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ് നീ മുമ്പ് മണലും ഇപ്പോള്‍ പാറയിലും എഴുതി യത്”?.

സുഹൃത്തിന്റെ മറുപടി ഇതായിരുന്നു.

“ആരെങ്കിലും നിന്നെ വേദനിപ്പിച്ചാല്‍ നീ അത് മണലില്‍ എഴുതിവെക്കുക, കാര ണം ക്ഷമയാകുന്ന കാറ്റിന് അതിനെ മായ്ച്കളയാന്‍ പറ്റും ,എന്നാല്‍ ആരെ ങ്കിലും നിനക്കു നന്മ ചെയ്താല്‍ നീ അത് പാറയില്‍ കൊത്തി വെക്കുക , ഒരു കാറ്റിനും ഒരിയ്ക്കലും മായ്ച്ചു കളയാന്‍ പറ്റാത്ത വിധത്തില്‍”.
