ടീച്ചർ കുട്ടികളോട് ചോദിച്ചു. "ഞാൻ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ഗ്ലാസിലെ വെള്ള ത്തിന്റെ ഭാരമെത്രയാണ്?"

100 ഗ്രാം., 150 ഗ്രാം, 200 ഗ്രാം... പലരും പല രീതിയിൽ ഉത്തരങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

ടീച്ച ർ വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചു. "ഞാൻ അര മണിക്കൂർ നേരം ഈ ഗ്ലാസ്‌ കയ്യിലെടു ത്തു പിടിച്ചാൽ എന്ത് സംഭവിക്കും?"

"ടീച്ചറിന്റെ കൈ വേദനിക്കും." കുട്ടി കൾ ഒന്നടങ്കം പറഞ്ഞു.

"എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഈ ഗ്ലാസ്‌ നമ്മുടെ സ്കൂൾ വിടുന്നത് വരെ കയ്യിലെടുത്തു പിടിച്ചാലോ?"

"എങ്കിൽ തളർവാതം വന്നു ടീച്ചറെ ഹോ സ്പിറ്റലിൽ അഡ്മിറ്റ്‌ ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരും." നീതുവിന്റെ മറുപടി കേട്ട് കുട്ടികൾ എല്ലാവരും പൊട്ടിചിരിച്ചു. കുട്ടികളുടെ നർമ്മം ടീച്ചറും ആസ്വദിച്ചു.

"കുട്ടികളേ, ഞാൻ ഗ്ലാസ്‌ എടുത്ത് നിൽ ക്കുന്ന സമയം കൂടും തോറും ഗ്ലാസിന്റെ ഭാരം കൂടിയിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ? പക്ഷെ എന്റെ കൈക്ക് വേദന വർദ്ധിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരു ന്നു."

"അതുപോലെ ദുഃഖമാകുന്ന ഭാരം ഹൃദയത്തിൽ എടുത്തു പിടിക്കും തോറും അതിന്റെ ഭാരം കൂടുന്നില്ലെ ങ്കിലും അത് ഹൃദയത്തെ കൂടുതൽ ക്ഷയിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും."
